Soviet-era grid
The central districts follow long straight avenues and rectangular blocks, an easy-to-read layout from twentieth-century planning, when the city was still called Kurgan-Tyube.

关于地图
Bokhtar Map Poster & Print
Bokhtar sits in the broad valley of the Vakhsh River in southwestern Tajikistan, and from above it is surrounded by a patchwork of irrigated fields crossed by canals. The city itself is laid out largely on a grid of wide avenues and regular blocks. This reflects planning from the Soviet period, when it was known as Kurgan-Tyube.
As the administrative centre of Khatlon Province, Bokhtar serves a large farming region long devoted to cotton and other irrigated crops. The river flows to the west of the city. The network of channels drawn from it shapes almost everything on the map outside the urban core, from field boundaries to the routes of rural roads.
A Bokhtar map poster sets the calm geometry of the city against the finer lines of its irrigation system. Straight streets, a few larger parks and open squares sit at the centre, while canals and farm roads spread out in every direction. Together they give a clear picture of how water organises life in this valley.

Vakhsh River
West of the city, the Vakhsh flows through its wide valley. This major river feeds the irrigation network that surrounds Bokhtar and defines the land around it.
Canal network
Irrigation channels run through the land around the city in thin, nearly parallel lines across the fields, shaping the layout of nearby villages and roads.

为什么选Bokhtar
一张有意义的地图
For people from Khatlon now living in Dushanbe, Russia or elsewhere, Bokhtar is the city of family, school and market days. A map poster brings its familiar avenues home in a form that looks at ease in a modern flat.
The title can show the current name, Kurgan-Tyube or both, and you can edit the subtitle and coordinates line too. Choose one of five styles, then download HD files in six print sizes for $9 or order a printed poster on matte paper.
