From above, Boqueirão is a small, tightly packed grid of streets in the semi-arid Cariri region of Paraíba. The built area sits close to open, lightly settled land, where rural roads fan out across the dry plateau. On a black-and-white map, the dense core and the empty country around it make a clear, simple contrast.
The main feature on the map is the Epitácio Pessoa reservoir, often just called the Boqueirão dam, which holds back the Paraíba River. Its water surface spreads through valleys in irregular fingers and inlets. The reservoir is one of the most important in the state and supplies Campina Grande and other nearby towns.
A Boqueirão map poster frames the town and its water together. The small street pattern sits against the wide, ragged outline of the lake, and dirt roads and field boundaries fill the space between them.
