Cachan Map Poster & Print
Cachan sits just south of the Paris ring road, in the Val-de-Marne, where the land drops into the valley of the Bièvre and climbs again on the other side. From above, the town is a dense patchwork of short residential streets, small blocks and garden plots. Its edges merge with the surrounding suburbs, so the map reads as one continuous fabric.
The strongest line on the map is historical. Aqueducts carrying water towards Paris cross the valley on arches that Cachan shares with neighbouring Arcueil, and their straight course cuts through the curving streets below. The RER B line runs through the town as well, adding a second firm stroke that links Cachan to the capital.
A Cachan map poster shows how a small commune can hold several layers at once: a buried river valley, older roads following the slope, and newer housing filling in between. The town is also long associated with the École normale supérieure, which had its campus here for decades. Seen in black and white, the town's scale and texture read clearly without any colour.
