Hill-shaped streets
The town's roads bend with the terrain instead of forming a grid. They curve around low rises and run down into the valley, which gives the map soft, organic line work.

关于地图
Çatalca Map Poster & Print
Çatalca is the administrative centre of Istanbul's largest and most rural district, and from above it looks nothing like the dense city to the east. The town lies in a shallow valley among low, rolling hills. Its modest centre is where a few main roads meet, and the neighbourhoods thin out quickly into farmland, pasture and patches of woodland.
The district covers much of the land between the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara. In the early twentieth century the Çatalca Lines, a chain of defensive fortifications, were built across this narrow neck of land to protect Istanbul. During the Balkan Wars, the advance on the city was stopped at these lines, and that history is written into the local geography of hills and approaches.
A Çatalca map poster shows the town at a quieter scale. Winding roads follow the contours instead of a grid, the railway toward Edirne passes close by, and small villages sit at intervals in the surrounding countryside. It is an unusual view of Istanbul that shows the edge of the province rather than its famous waterfronts.

Roads meeting at the centre
Several regional routes meet in the town, so the core appears as a small knot of crossing lines. The outer streets and rural roads spread out from it.
Countryside all around
Farmland and scattered villages surround the town, so the built area reads as a compact cluster set in wide open space. It looks very different from any map of central Istanbul.

为什么选Çatalca
一张有意义的地图
Çatalca suits people who know Istanbul beyond its postcard views, such as those with a weekend house, family roots or a farm in the district. The poster is a quiet reminder that the city reaches a long way west, well past the bridges and the Bosphorus.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. A free 900 px preview lets you check the framing before you buy the $9 HD files or a printed poster, with an optional frame.
