Closepet Map Poster & Print
Closepet is the colonial name for Ramanagara, a town in Karnataka named after Sir Barry Close, a British officer of the early nineteenth century. On a map, the town is stretched along the main road between Bengaluru and Mysuru. Commercial streets line the road, and residential neighbourhoods spread out on both sides.
The Arkavathi River passes near the town, and huge granite hills rise from the surrounding land. On the map these hills appear as open, irregular shapes that roads curve around. One of them, Ramadevarabetta, became famous as the location of the film Sholay.
Ramanagara is often called the silk town, and it has one of the largest silk cocoon markets in India. A Closepet map poster shows a town defined by the main road and the rocks around it, where a trading centre sits among ancient granite outcrops.
