Colonial grid
The centre follows the regular Spanish plan of square blocks around a plaza. It is still the most clearly defined part of the town on the map.

关于地图
Cotuí Map Poster & Print
Cotuí is the capital of Sánchez Ramírez province, in the fertile Cibao region in the middle of the Dominican Republic. The town is laid out on a compact colonial grid around a central square, and its straight streets lead out to a ring of newer neighbourhoods. Beyond them the map opens into rice fields and the low green hills of the Yuna basin.
Cotuí was founded in the first years of Spanish settlement on Hispaniola and is often counted among the oldest towns in the Americas. Today it is also known for the Pueblo Viejo gold mine in the area and for the Hatillo reservoir nearby, one of the largest bodies of fresh water in the country.
A Cotuí map poster brings the old grid and the surrounding water together. The straight colonial blocks at the centre contrast strongly with the irregular reservoir shoreline in a wider frame, especially in the Blueprint and Noir styles. The result is a print that is orderly at the core and loose and natural at the edges.

Hatillo reservoir
The large reservoir on the Yuna River lies close to Cotuí. Its branching arms and irregular shoreline make a striking shape in a wider frame.
Rice-growing lowland
Low fields and irrigation channels surround parts of the town, and the Cibao lowland appears as open space crossed by fine lines.

为什么选Cotuí
一张有意义的地图
Cotuí is home to many Dominicans now living in Santo Domingo, New York or Madrid, and a map of its grid links directly to particular streets and family houses. It also makes a meaningful gift for someone with roots in the Cibao.
The title and subtitle can be a family name, a date or a phrase in Spanish, and the coordinates line can stay as it is. Printed posters come on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame, from print partners in more than 30 countries.
