Regular old center
The historic core follows a planned grid of the kind many Russian district towns were given in the eighteenth century. It shows up as a neat block on the map.

关于地图
Danilov Map Poster & Print
Danilov is a small town in Yaroslavl Oblast, north of the regional capital along the railway toward Vologda. The map shows two layers: an older center with a regular street plan, typical of Russian provincial towns redesigned in the late eighteenth century, and the rail yards and tracks that made Danilov a junction.
Around the town, the terrain is flat and heavily wooded, crossed by small rivers and streams that wind through low ground. Streets of wooden houses fill the blocks between the center and the edges, then give way to fields and forest. The result is a clear urban shape with loose edges.
A Danilov map poster shows that layered structure without clutter. The straight lines of the railway contrast with the gentle curves of the watercourses, and the grid of the old center sits between them. It's a subtle composition and suits people who appreciate the quiet geometry of northern Russian towns.

Railway junction
Several lines meet at Danilov, and the tracks with their sidings draw long straight strokes across the town's edge.
Rivers in woodland
Small winding rivers run through the town and surrounding forest, adding soft curves to an otherwise orderly plan.
