Doda Map Poster & Print
Doda is the headquarters of Doda district, in the Chenab valley of Jammu and Kashmir. The town sits on a hillside at over a thousand metres, with mountains rising steeply around it. On a map, the streets climb and switch back rather than forming any kind of grid, following the few flatter shelves of land available.
The Chenab river runs through deep valleys nearby, and the roads that link Doda with the rest of the region follow the contours of these valleys, winding for long distances between settlements. Terraced fields and scattered hamlets cling to the slopes, and forests cover the higher ground.
A Doda map poster is shaped by relief. The town forms a compact knot of streets, and the winding roads and river beyond it show the mountain terrain even in flat black and white. It is a striking sheet for anyone who knows how the road bends on the way in.
