Straight canals
Canals originally dug for peat transport run through Drachten in long, straight lines. On the poster they form clear axes that give the whole plan its underlying structure.

关于地图
Drachten Map Poster & Print
Drachten is the largest town in Smallingerland, in the Dutch province of Friesland. It grew from villages along canals dug to transport peat, and those straight waterways still structure the map. After the Second World War the town expanded rapidly as a planned industrial centre, with neighbourhoods laid out around green spaces and water.
Drachten is well known for its long-established Philips factory and for its experiments with shared space, a traffic concept developed by the engineer Hans Monderman, who removed signs and traffic lights from several intersections. From above, the centre is compact, while residential districts form a series of carefully planned units with curving streets, ponds and canals.
A Drachten map poster shows how waterways and planning shaped a modern Frisian town: long straight canals, rounded residential quarters and the open landscape of lakes and meadows around the edges. The result is a structured, calm print that suits anyone who knows Friesland or appreciates the clarity of Dutch town planning.

Planned neighbourhoods
Post-war residential districts are laid out as distinct units with curving streets and green spaces. They create a series of rounded, carefully designed shapes around the centre.
Frisian landscape
Meadows, water and nearby lakes surround the town, leaving calm open space on the map. This setting frames the street pattern and emphasises Drachten's place in the Frisian lowlands.
