Chessboard grid
Regular square blocks fill the town from end to end, interrupted only by plazas, giving the map a graphic regularity that holds up well at large sizes.

关于地图
Durazno Map Poster & Print
Durazno lies close to the geographic centre of Uruguay, on the southern bank of the Río Yí. The town is laid out on a classic Spanish-American grid of square blocks, with plazas at intervals and long straight streets running to the edge of the built-up area. The river, with its wooded banks and broad curves, forms the northern boundary.
The town was founded in 1821 by Fructuoso Rivera, who later became Uruguay's first constitutional president. Surrounded by cattle country, Durazno has long been a service centre for the interior, and the bridges over the Yí carry the main road and the railway north toward the rest of the country.
A Durazno map poster is a study in order and flow: a near-perfect chessboard of streets on one side, and on the other the river looping through its floodplain with islands and wooded margins. The contrast is simple and strong, which makes the town especially well suited to a minimal black-and-white print.

Río Yí
The river curves along the northern edge of Durazno in broad loops, its wooded banks and floodplain providing a soft, natural contrast to the rigid street pattern.
Bridges to the north
Road and rail bridges cross the Yí, drawing clear straight lines over the water and linking the town with the countryside and the rest of Uruguay.
