Finow Canal
The historic canal runs the length of the town with a chain of locks, a slim waterway that predates most of the streets around it.

关于地图
Eberswalde Map Poster & Print
Eberswalde lies northeast of Berlin in Brandenburg, laid out along the Finow valley, a channel carved by meltwater at the end of the last ice age. Because the town follows the valley, it is long and narrow from above, running roughly east to west. Railway lines, main roads and the old Finow Canal all run parallel to one another. Dense forest presses in on both sides and marks the edges very clearly.
The Finow Canal, opened in the early seventeenth century and rebuilt later, is among the oldest artificial waterways still in use in Germany. Nearby, the Oder–Havel Canal leads to the Niederfinow boat lifts, where ships are raised and lowered in giant troughs. Eberswalde is also known for forestry. Its forestry academy, founded in 1830, lives on as a university focused on sustainability.
An Eberswalde map poster shows how landscape and industry shaped the same line. The canal with its locks, the railway and the main road run side by side through the valley. The old centre sits in the middle, and housing estates and industrial areas spread outward along the valley floor. Around all of it, the empty space of the woods frames the town.

Valley-shaped town
Built along a glacial valley, the town forms a long ribbon, with forested high ground on both sides pushing development into a single corridor.
Forest edges
Large woodlands surround the town on the map. They suit a town long linked with forestry education and research since the nineteenth century.

为什么选Eberswalde
一张有意义的地图
Eberswalde appeals to people who studied forestry or sustainability there, canal and industrial heritage fans, and Berliners with a weekend connection to the Barnim woods. The linear form, framed by forest, gives a composition that feels calm but has purpose.
