Enfield Town Map Poster & Print
Enfield Town is the historic centre of the London Borough of Enfield, at the northern edge of the city. Its core is a small market town, with a market place, a church and a high street, and it sits at the centre of streets that spread out in every direction. On the map, the old centre feels distinct from the more regular suburban roads around it.
The New River, an artificial waterway built in the early seventeenth century to bring fresh water to London, winds through the area. It makes graceful loops through the town, and those curves are easy to recognise from above. Town Park and other open spaces add green gaps between the houses.
Enfield Town is also where the world's first cash machine was installed, at a Barclays branch in 1967. To the west, the land opens up towards the remains of Enfield Chase, a former royal hunting ground. An Enfield Town map poster shows London just before it turns into countryside.
