Feltham Map Poster & Print
Feltham is in the London Borough of Hounslow, on the flat gravel plain just south of Heathrow Airport. On a map it is a suburb of long residential streets and cul-de-sacs, built mostly in the twentieth century, cut through by the railway to Reading and Windsor and bordered by large areas of open land.
Water plays a surprising part in the picture. Reservoirs and the channels that feed them lie to the west and south, and the airport's runways and aprons stretch across the top of the frame. The result is an unusual composition: a fine domestic street pattern held between very large, simple shapes.
Feltham's best-known former resident is probably Freddie Mercury, who lived here as a teenager after his family moved from Zanzibar. A Feltham map poster shows the place as it actually is: an ordinary suburb with streets, a station and parks, sitting on the edge of one of the world's busiest airports.
