Hilltop old town
The historic centre sits on raised ground around a central market square. Its compact street pattern is clearly different from the looser suburbs on the slopes below.

关于地图
Friedberg Map Poster & Print
Friedberg stands on a ridge on the eastern side of the Lech valley, looking across the river toward Augsburg. The Wittelsbach dukes of Bavaria founded the town in the thirteenth century as a fortified outpost on this border, and the layout still shows it. A compact core occupies the high ground, and the castle stands at the edge above the valley.
On the map, the old town is a tight cluster of streets around a central market square, bordered by traces of its former fortifications. Beyond it, later residential districts spread down the slopes. To the west, the flat valley floor carries roads, rail and fields toward the Lech and the eastern suburbs of Augsburg.
A Friedberg map poster works well for people who live between the two towns, commute across the river, or simply like the clarity of a medieval plan. It keeps both sides of the story in view: the defensive hilltop and the wide, open valley it was built to watch.

Wittelsbach castle
The castle at the edge of the old town recalls Friedberg's origin as a ducal stronghold facing Augsburg. Today it houses a museum.
Lech valley
West of town the land drops to the broad, flat Lech valley. Roads and rail lines cross it toward Augsburg, and the river marks an old frontier.
