关于地图
Guidonia Montecelio Map Poster & Print
Guidonia Montecelio is a municipality north-east of Rome, between the city and Tivoli. It combines two very different places. Montecelio is an old village perched on one of the Monti Cornicolani hills. Guidonia was founded in 1937 on the plain below as a planned town built around an airfield and aeronautical research centre.
The two appear very differently on a map. Montecelio is a small tight knot of streets wrapped around its hilltop. Guidonia is laid out more geometrically around the airfield, whose runway is still one of the clearest shapes in the frame. Other districts have grown up across the plain, and to the east, quarries for the Roman travertine used in many famous buildings have left large pits in the land.
A Guidonia Montecelio map poster puts medieval, modernist and industrial landscapes in a single composition. In black and white, the curving streets of the hill village, the straight lines of the runway and the angular edges of the quarries all read clearly. It is a thoughtful choice for residents, and for commuters who call it home.

The 1930s airfield
Guidonia was founded around an airfield, and the long runway is still the strongest straight line on the map.
Travertine quarries
Large quarries for travertine stone cut angular shapes into the land toward Tivoli, an industrial feature with a long Roman history.

一张有意义的地图
Guidonia Montecelio is home to many people who work in Rome but live beyond the ring road. A map of it shows the hills, runway and quarries of a place that has its own character.
