Hlohovec Map Poster & Print
Hlohovec stands on the Váh, Slovakia's longest river, where the last foothills of the Považský Inovec meet the flat farmland of the Danubian lowland. On a map the town is framed by these two landscapes. The river runs past on one side, and on the other a wooded rise topped by the castle and its grounds looks down over the old centre.
The castle, rebuilt over the centuries into a stately residence, is surrounded by a large park, and in its grounds stands an Empire-style theatre, among the oldest in Slovakia. Below it the historic core keeps an irregular street plan around a central square and a Franciscan monastery. Later housing and industrial districts spread out across the plain.
A Hlohovec map poster holds these elements in balance: the soft mass of the castle grounds, the dense older streets, the bridges and the long line of the Váh.
