Iskandar lies in Tashkent Region of Uzbekistan, in the valley of the Chirchiq river as it runs down from the mountains toward the capital. The land here is heavily irrigated, and on the map the settlement is surrounded by a patchwork of field boundaries and channels, with the mountains rising to the north-east.
The street plan is straightforward: long rows of houses with gardens set along roads that follow the valley. Canals and irrigation ditches run beside many of these streets, so the map has a regular, almost striped texture that reflects how water is managed across the whole valley.
This part of Tashkent Region lies on the way to the mountain country around the Charvak reservoir, a popular escape from summer heat in the capital. Canals and ditches run through and around the settlement, adding fine parallel lines to the map and dividing the surrounding land into long, narrow plots.

To the north-east the ground rises toward the western ranges of the Tian Shan, and roads in that direction lead up toward the Charvak area.
