Jinan-gun Map Poster & Print
Jinan-gun is a county in the mountainous east of Jeollabuk-do. It sits on an upland plateau that is often counted among the highest inhabited areas in southern Korea. From above, the landscape is densely folded. Forested ridges crowd close together, narrow valleys hold small villages and farmland, and roads follow the rivers because there is little flat ground anywhere else.
The best-known landmark is Maisan, a pair of rocky peaks said to look like a horse's ears. The temple beneath them is famous for its stacked stone towers. To the north lies Yongdam Lake, a large reservoir created by damming the upper Geum River, whose flooded valleys spread across the map in long, branching arms.
A Jinan-gun map poster is mainly a study of terrain. The county town sits in one of the wider valleys. Everywhere else, the pattern comes from contours, streams and winding mountain roads. The reservoir adds a large area of open water with irregular fingers, which works especially well in the Blueprint and Noir styles.
