Kabare Map Poster & Print
Kabare lies in the highlands of South Kivu, close to Bukavu and the south-western end of Lake Kivu. The land here is steep and crowded with hills, and the map shows it: roads switch back along ridges, settlements cling to the slopes, and fields cover the hillsides in small plots. No part of the landscape is truly flat, so streets curve wherever the terrain lets them.
The area is densely farmed and has long been the home of the Bashi people, with land that climbs toward forested mountains to the west. The wider Kabare territory reaches up to part of Kahuzi-Biega National Park, known for its eastern lowland gorillas. Closer to town, roads link the hills to Bukavu and the lake shore, and daily life depends on them.
