Kashan Map Poster & Print
Kashan lies in Isfahan Province on the edge of Iran's central desert, fed by water from the mountains to the southwest. Its historic core is a dense knot of narrow lanes, courtyard houses and covered passages, built close together for shade. On a map these streets form an intricate, almost cellular texture that differs from the straighter avenues of the modern city.
The old town is known for its Qajar-era merchant houses, such as the Tabatabaei and Borujerdi houses, with sunken courtyards and tall wind catchers. The long covered bazaar runs through the centre, with the Agha Bozorg Mosque nearby. Together they make the historic quarter one of the best preserved in Iran.
