Kimry Map Poster & Print
Kimry lies on the Volga River in Tver Oblast, north of Moscow, where the small Kimrka River joins it. From above, the town fills the right bank, with the Kimrka winding through it. A bridge links it to the settlement of Savyolovo and the railway on the opposite shore. The broad Volga is the dominant shape on the map.
Kimry was once one of Russia's great shoemaking centres, known for its boots and shoes. Its artisans supplied markets across the country. The wealth of that trade left behind a set of wooden houses with ornate Art Nouveau details, and they still line some of the old streets.
A Kimry map poster combines the sweep of the Volga with the finer pattern of the town's older quarters. Streets run down toward the water and to the Kimrka's banks, and the composition has a natural horizontal balance between the two shores.
