River confluence
The Cheptsa joins the Vyatka close to town. Both rivers wander through a wide floodplain, and their curves are the strongest natural lines on the poster.

关于地图
Kirovo-Chepetsk Map Poster & Print
Kirovo-Chepetsk lies in Kirov Oblast, near the point where the Cheptsa River flows into the Vyatka. From above, the town sits on higher ground above the rivers, with wide floodplains, oxbow lakes and meadows below. Forest surrounds much of the landscape, and the rivers bend through it in long, soft curves.
The town grew in the mid-twentieth century around a large chemical plant, and its plan shows that: straight avenues, residential blocks set in regular groups, and a separate industrial zone to one side. Railway lines connect the plant and town with Kirov, the regional centre, a short distance away. The layout is orderly, with generous spaces between buildings.
A Kirovo-Chepetsk map poster contrasts the planned town with the natural curves of the rivers. For people from here, the avenues, the rivers and the forest edge are familiar. The town is also known in Russia for its ice hockey tradition. In black and white the composition is clear, with the rivers giving it depth.

Planned avenues
Straight streets and regular blocks reflect the town's mid-century planning. They form a tidy, legible grid on the higher ground above the rivers.
Oxbow lakes
Old river loops left behind as lakes are scattered across the floodplain. They appear as crescent shapes around the edges of the town.
