Fine street grain
Narrow residential lanes and small, irregular blocks create the dense, even texture typical of Japanese neighbourhoods, drawn as delicate lines on the poster.

关于地图
Kotō Map Poster & Print
Kotō lies in Kumamoto Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, on the broad plain around the city of Kumamoto. From above, it has the typical texture of a Japanese residential district: narrow streets, irregular blocks and small plots packed closely together, with a few wider roads carrying traffic across the plain. In the wider landscape, rivers flow west from the Aso highlands toward the Ariake Sea.
The region is shaped by Mount Aso to the east, one of the largest active volcanoes in Japan, whose caldera and grasslands feed the rivers and groundwater of the plain. Kumamoto is known for the quality and abundance of its spring water, and for Kumamoto Castle, which has been under restoration since the earthquakes of April 2016.
A Kotō map poster shows the fine grain of everyday Japan: small blocks, lanes of different widths, and the occasional straight arterial road or rail line cutting through. It is a quiet, detailed design, best suited to people with a personal connection to the area who can read its streets from memory.

Arterial roads
A few wider roads cross the district in straighter lines. They stand out clearly against the finer mesh of local streets and help orient the eye.
Rivers of the plain
Rivers flowing from the Aso highlands toward the Ariake Sea cross the Kumamoto plain and add soft curves to the otherwise tight pattern of streets.

为什么选Kotō
一张有意义的地图
For someone who has lived in the Kumamoto area, a map of their own district is more personal than one of the famous castle town. Edit the title and subtitle to name a street, a family or a year, and keep the coordinates line as a precise reference.
Choose from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Buy the $9 digital set with six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and PDF, or order a matte printed poster, with an optional wooden frame, from partners in more than 30 countries.
