Krishnarājpet Map Poster & Print
Krishnarājpet, usually shortened to K.R. Pet, is the headquarters of a taluk in Karnataka's Mandya district, in the fertile country north-west of Mysuru. On the map it appears as a compact market town where several district roads meet, with a denser grid of shops and houses at the centre and fields close on every side.
The landscape around it is shaped by water. Irrigation canals and old village tanks, the shallow reservoirs typical of southern Karnataka, show as irregular shapes among the paddy and sugarcane fields. The Hemavathi river flows through the wider taluk, and its irrigation network explains much of the green that surrounds the town.
Just outside town, at Hosaholalu, stands the Lakshminarayana temple, a finely carved Hoysala-era building that brings visitors to this otherwise quiet area. Irregular, rounded reservoirs lie scattered through the surrounding countryside. These traditional tanks store monsoon rain and appear as soft solid shapes on the poster.
Hosaholalu temple
The Hoysala temple at Hosaholalu stands on the town's edge. It is the best-known landmark in the taluk and a natural point to mark with coordinates.
