Tihany peninsula
A rounded headland pushes in from the northern shore until only a narrow channel separates it from the south, splitting the lake into two basins.

关于地图
Lake Balaton Map Poster & Print
Lake Balaton is the largest lake in Central Europe, and on a map it looks like a long silver blade laid across western Hungary. It runs roughly southwest to northeast, and for most of its length it stays narrow enough that both shores sit comfortably in the same frame.
The two shores differ clearly. The northern side climbs into hills of volcanic origin, with vineyards and villages set on the slopes, so roads wind and branch. The southern shore is flat and continuous, lined almost without a break by resort towns, railway and holiday streets, Siófok the largest among them.
Near the middle, the Tihany peninsula juts out from the north and almost cuts the lake in two. A Lake Balaton map poster shows this pinch clearly, together with Keszthely at the western tip and the shallow water that keeps the lake warm in summer.

Southern resort strip
Along the flat southern shore, towns follow one another in an almost unbroken line of streets, railway and beach plots running parallel to the water.
Northern hill shore
On the north side the terrain rises, so the road network becomes looser and winding, with villages spaced between the hills and vineyards.

为什么选Lake Balaton
一张有意义的地图
For many Hungarians and visitors from further afield, Balaton means summers: a rented cottage, a train to the south shore, a ferry across from Tihany. The map holds all of that in one calm, recognisable shape that works on almost any wall.
You can name the poster after the village where you stayed, add a year in the subtitle and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and either download the 300 DPI files or order a printed version.
