Lancing Map Poster & Print
Lancing lies on the West Sussex coast between Worthing and Shoreham-by-Sea. On a map it is a narrow strip of streets squeezed between the sea and the South Downs. Along the shore, a long straight coastline with a shingle beach defines its southern edge. Inland, residential roads spread north across the coastal plain until they reach the chalk slopes, where the streets stop and open downland begins.
To the east the River Adur reaches the sea, and above the valley stands the chapel of Lancing College, a tall Gothic building visible from miles around. Shoreham Airport, one of the oldest airfields in the country, lies across the river. Near the shore, Widewater Lagoon, a narrow saltwater lagoon behind the beach, forms a thin strip of water parallel to the coast.
A Lancing map poster is shaped by these edges: sea to the south, Downs to the north and river to the east. The straight coastline and the curve of the Adur frame the neat suburban streets, giving the design a strong outline. It is a calm, open map that suits the lighter styles well.
