Landshut Map Poster & Print
Landshut lies on the Isar in Lower Bavaria, northeast of Munich. The river splits into arms here, and the old town lies between them. Its centre is the Altstadt, a very wide, long street lined with gabled houses, and a second parallel street, the Neustadt, runs beside it. From above, the two long, spindle-shaped spaces are unmistakable.
At the southern end of the Altstadt stands St. Martin's Church, whose brick tower, about 130 metres high, is the tallest brick church tower in the world. On the wooded hill above town sits Trausnitz Castle, the old seat of the dukes of Bavaria-Landshut. Every four years the town restages the Landshut Wedding of 1475, one of Europe's largest historical festivals.

The river divides into several channels around the old town. They create islands and bridges and frame the historic centre on its northern side.
Hofberg and Trausnitz
South of the old town, the castle hill rises with Trausnitz Castle and its woods. On the poster it reads as a quiet, open area of curving paths.
