Limoeiro is in the Agreste of Pernambuco, the transition zone between the humid coast and the dry interior of north-eastern Brazil. The town lies along the Capibaribe, the same river that later flows through Recife, and its map is shaped by the valley. The streets follow the river, with the central district on the lower ground and newer neighbourhoods climbing the slopes.
From above, the Capibaribe appears as a winding line through town, often lined with a band of greenery that contrasts with the drier land around it. Bridges connect the two banks, and main roads leave the valley towards Recife and other towns of the region.
The street pattern is typical of an older interior town: a denser core with a church square and market streets, and looser, more irregular development further out. A Limoeiro map poster shows the river and the streets that grew along it, a small valley town drawn clearly in line.
