The Svir River
The Svir links Lake Onega with Lake Ladoga and runs broad and steady past the town. This wide band gives the poster its main structure.

关于地图
Lodeynoye Pole Map Poster & Print
Lodeynoye Pole stands on the Svir, the river that carries the waters of Lake Onega to Lake Ladoga, in the northeast of Leningrad Oblast. The town lies along the riverbank, and from above the Svir dominates the view: a wide band crossing the frame, with the streets arranged beside it and the railway heading north toward Karelia.
Peter the Great founded the town in 1702 as the Olonets shipyard, where some of the first ships of the Baltic Fleet were built. Its name, meaning something like boat field, preserves that origin. The shipyard era turned the town toward the river, and its identity is still tied to that shipbuilding beginning more than three centuries ago.
A Lodeynoye Pole map poster sets that relationship in clean lines: the heavy sweep of the Svir, the regular blocks of the town, and the railway and roads leading away through the forest. Northern Russian landscapes are full of water and woodland. In monochrome the river becomes a bold graphic shape that anchors the whole composition.

Shipyard origins
The town was founded in 1702 as a shipyard for Peter the Great’s new fleet. It grew inland from the riverbank, and its plan still faces the water.
Railway north
The line toward Petrozavodsk and Murmansk passes through the town, a long straight stroke cutting through the surrounding forest on its way into Karelia.
