关于地图
Maithon Map Poster & Print
Maithon is defined by water. The town grew up around the Maithon Dam on the Barakar River, built by the Damodar Valley Corporation for flood control, irrigation and power generation. On a map the reservoir is the dominant shape: a broad, irregular expanse of water with inlets, headlands and wooded islands, held back by the long straight line of the dam.
The dam sits near the border between Jharkhand and West Bengal, and the settlement is spread along the roads near its embankment. Staff housing, offices and the power installations form a planned, spacious layout quite unlike the dense lanes of older market towns. The lake and its shoreline draw day visitors from Dhanbad, Asansol and the surrounding coal belt.
A Maithon map poster turns this engineered landscape into a strong graphic composition. The reservoir becomes a large calm field of negative space, the dam a single decisive stroke, and the town a light scatter of streets beside it. It is an unusual and handsome map, and it means a lot to people who grew up in DVC colonies.

The dam
The dam across the Barakar River draws a firm straight line between the reservoir and the valley below, the clearest single feature in the composition.
Planned township
Housing and facilities built for the dam are arranged in a spacious, planned layout near the embankment, lighter and more open than an older bazaar town.

为什么选Maithon
一张有意义的地图
Families who lived in Maithon's colonies, engineers who worked on the Damodar Valley projects and visitors who spent weekends by the lake all have a connection to this place. A map records the water, the dam and the streets in a single frame.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the dam's engineering story especially well. HD files cost $9, and printed posters ship with an optional frame.
