Etna's slopes
The whole town sits on rising ground on the volcano's southern flank, and the curving streets reflect that constant, gentle climb toward the summit.

关于地图
Mascalucia Map Poster & Print
Mascalucia lies on the southern slopes of Mount Etna, a short distance north of Catania in eastern Sicily. The ground rises steadily from the coast toward the volcano, and on a map the town appears as a dense web of streets that has grown along the roads climbing the mountain, merging with the neighbouring towns on either side.
Much of the area is built on old lava flows, and the volcanic soil has long supported vineyards, orchards and gardens. Over recent decades Mascalucia has grown as a residential town for people working in Catania, and the gaps between houses are often filled with green plots and walled gardens.
A Mascalucia map poster shows a place without straight grids. The roads bend and fork as they follow the slope, the old centre forms a tight cluster around its main square, and newer streets spread out in every direction. In black and white, the result looks almost like a fine drawing of branches.

Continuous towns
Mascalucia merges with the neighbouring towns, so the poster shows a nearly continuous built-up area where boundaries are almost invisible on the map.
Road to Catania
Main roads run downhill toward Catania and the coast, forming the main lines that organise the dense pattern of smaller streets.

为什么选Mascalucia
一张有意义的地图
Living on the slopes of Etna means views of the volcano on one side and the sea on the other. A map of Mascalucia is a reminder of that setting, and of a home among the gardens and lava stone walls.
Choose your own title and subtitle, perhaps a street name or a date, and edit the coordinates line. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Download the files for $9 or order a matte print.
