Masina Map Poster & Print
Masina is one of the communes that make up Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It lies east of the city centre on the road toward the international airport. From above, it is one of the most closely built parts of the city. Small plots and narrow streets form a fine, even mesh, and only a few larger roads cross it.
The main boulevard running east from central Kinshasa passes along the commune and is the clearest line on the map. To the north, the land drops toward the low, marshy ground along the Congo River and Pool Malebo. The street network becomes looser there, broken by open patches and water. To the south, Masina merges with neighbouring communes without a visible boundary.

The pattern is dense and repetitive, a pale background of countless short streets with a few firm lines of main roads.
