Millbrae Map Poster & Print
Millbrae lies on the San Francisco Peninsula, between the bay shore and the ridges to the west. On a map two patterns meet. In the flat eastern part near El Camino Real there are straight blocks and rail lines. In the hills above, residential streets curve and switch back along the slopes, winding toward open land and the watershed.
The town's name comes from the estate of Darius Ogden Mills, a nineteenth-century banker whose property once covered much of the area. Today Millbrae is best known as a transit crossroads. Its station is where BART and Caltrain meet, and San Francisco International Airport begins right at the town's northeastern edge.
