Mokpo Map Poster & Print
Mokpo sits at the southwestern corner of the Korean peninsula, near the mouth of the Yeongsan River, with a view out over the islands of the southwest sea. On a map the city is compact and shaped by water. The old port lines the southern shore, and newer districts have been built on reclaimed land toward the east and north.
Yudalsan, a rocky hill, rises right beside the old town and appears as a green, road-free space in the middle of the streets. Mokpo was opened as a trading port in 1897. It is still a gateway to the islands of Sinan and beyond, with ferries leaving from its terminals to many of them.
A Mokpo map poster puts the harbour front and centre. The irregular streets of the old port wrap around the hill, bridges reach across the water to nearby islands, and the straight lines of the reclaimed districts contrast with the older quarter. Scattered islands fill the sea around the city's edges.
