Morrinhos lies in the south of Goiás in central Brazil, in the cerrado region that has become one of the country's major farming areas. Its name means little hills, a fair description of the gently rolling land around it. From above, the town is a neat grid of blocks, broken by a few squares and green spaces, with large rectangular fields and pastures spreading out past its edges.
Its economy is closely tied to agriculture and livestock, and the town serves as a commercial centre for the surrounding farmland. A main highway connects it to Goiânia and the rest of the region, and the scale of the farms is visible on the map in the broad, geometric plots that surround the relatively small urban area.
