Mount Pleasant is the county seat of Titus County in northeast Texas, set in the gently rolling, wooded country between Dallas and Texarkana. Its map starts with a compact downtown of rectangular blocks and then spreads out along the main roads, with neighbourhoods, commercial strips and industrial sites filling in the land between them.
Interstate 30 runs past the town, making it a regular stop on the route between the Dallas area and Arkansas. Beyond the built-up area, the landscape is a patchwork of farmland, pine woods and reservoirs, part of the lake country that characterises this corner of the state.
