Hillside settlement
Homes are spread along ridges and slopes rather than packed into a core, so the map shows clusters and lines of buildings following the shape of the hills.

关于地图
Mukingo Map Poster & Print
Mukingo lies in the Northern Province of Rwanda, in the high, fertile country that rises toward the Virunga volcanoes. Seen from above, it is not a town with a single centre but a patchwork of settlements spread across hillsides. Homes, small trading places and fields are linked by a network of farm tracks and footpaths.
The land is intensively farmed, and the map picks up that texture clearly. Roads bend around ridges and follow valley floors, while field boundaries and terraces run along the slopes. The result is a fine, organic pattern very different from a planned grid, a landscape shaped by generations of cultivation on steep, rich volcanic soils.
Northern Rwanda is known for its cool highland climate and for the volcano range along the borders with Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A Mukingo map poster captures a smaller, more personal scale of that region: the hills and paths that people walk every day between home, field and market.

Contour roads
Farm roads and footpaths wind around the hills in gentle curves, a pattern that turns the poster into something close to a contour drawing of the terrain.
Volcanic highlands
Mukingo sits within the high country of northern Rwanda, where fertile volcanic soils support dense farming and the Virunga range rises not far to the north.

为什么选Mukingo
一张有意义的地图
For families from Mukingo and for Rwandans living far from the northern hills, this map is a personal way to keep home in view. Travellers who passed through on the way to the volcanoes may also want a quieter record of the landscape around them.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be personalised, for example with a family name or an important date. Choose one of five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, as a $9 set of HD files or a printed matte poster.
