Mulanje Map Poster & Print
Mulanje is a town in Malawi's Southern Region, close to the Mozambique border. It sits beneath the Mulanje Massif, a vast granite block that rises abruptly from the surrounding plain. Its highest point, Sapitwa, is the highest peak in Malawi at just over 3,000 metres. On the map, the town's roads run along the base of the mountain, with the massif filling the view beyond.
The lower slopes and the land around the town are known for tea, and large estates with orderly rows of bushes spread across the countryside. The main road through the district links Mulanje with Blantyre and the border crossing, and the town has developed along it as a service centre for the estates and villages nearby.
A Mulanje map poster is less about a dense street grid and more about setting. The loose network of roads, the estate tracks and the edge of the massif make an open composition, and the black-and-white treatment brings out the contrast between cultivated ground and wild upland.

Tea is grown across the surrounding land. Estate roads and field boundaries form regular patterns that contrast with the more informal layout of the town and its villages.
Main road corridor
The town has grown along the road connecting it to Blantyre and the Mozambique border. On the poster this road forms the spine that holds the settlement together.
