Ridge-top roads
The main roads run along the hilltops and bend with the terrain, so the map shows the shape of the land even without contour lines.

关于地图
Ndera Map Poster & Print
Ndera is a sector in the Gasabo district on the eastern edge of Kigali, Rwanda's capital. On a map, the terrain explains almost everything. Roads follow the ridgelines, housing spreads along the slopes, and the valley floors stay mostly open as wetland and farmland. The street pattern isn't a grid. It traces the shape of the hills.
Rwanda is often called the land of a thousand hills, and Kigali shows why. The city is spread over a series of ridges separated by marshy valleys, and outer areas such as Ndera show that relief especially clearly. As Kigali has grown, new neighbourhoods have spread over these slopes, so the map mixes established tracks with newer, more regular streets.
A Ndera map poster turns the topography into line. The winding ridge roads, the clusters of housing on the slopes and the empty valleys between them make an organic, almost contour-like design. It is a meaningful piece for anyone who has lived in or near Kigali.

Valley wetlands
Low ground between the ridges stays largely unbuilt, and these open, winding areas contrast with the settled slopes above them.
Newer neighbourhoods
Recent development on the outskirts brings more regular street patterns, set beside older paths that follow the hillsides.
