Nikol’skoye is a town in Tosnensky District of Leningrad Oblast, a short distance southeast of Saint Petersburg. It lies in the flat, forested country south of the Neva, close to the Tosna River, and its map reflects that setting: a compact town surrounded by woodland, fields and the long, straight lines of regional roads and tracks.
The town itself mixes a few older streets with blocks of mid-rise housing laid out on more regular lines, typical of many settlements in the region. Beyond them the density drops quickly.
