Nizip Map Poster & Print
Nizip lies in Gaziantep Province in south-eastern Turkey, on rolling ground between Gaziantep and the Euphrates. The town is centred on a small river valley, with the older quarters close to it and newer apartment districts spreading in a more regular pattern across the slopes, while the land beyond is laid out in orchards and fields.
Pistachio and olive groves dominate the surrounding countryside, and on a map they read as fine, regular textures of field boundaries and farm tracks. The Euphrates runs to the east, where dams have created long reservoirs, and the district reaches the river at the site of ancient Zeugma, a Hellenistic and Roman city famous for its mosaics.
Nizip also gave its name to the Battle of Nezib in 1839, when Egyptian forces under Ibrahim Pasha defeated the Ottoman army nearby. A Nizip map poster presents the town in its setting of groves and gentle hills, a quiet layout of streets with a long past just below the surface.
