Nyanza Map Poster & Print
Nyanza lies in the Southern Province of Rwanda, in the country's characteristic landscape of rounded hills and green valleys. From above, the town does not follow a grid. Roads curve along the ridgelines and drop into the valleys between them, and settlement spreads along those routes, leaving the valley floors largely open and farmed.
The town holds a special place in Rwandan history as a royal capital of the Kingdom of Rwanda. The King's Palace Museum at Rukari includes a reconstruction of the traditional thatched royal residence alongside the colonial-era palace, and the long-horned Inyambo cattle associated with the monarchy are still kept there.
A Nyanza map poster does not try to picture the palace. It shows the land it stands on: winding roads, scattered neighbourhoods and the rhythm of hill and valley that defines this part of the country.
