Oschatz Map Poster & Print
Oschatz sits in northern Saxony, roughly halfway between Leipzig and Dresden, on the small river Döllnitz. From above you can still see the outline of a medieval town. A dense core of streets surrounds the market square and the twin-towered church of St. Aegidien, and the line of the old walls still shapes the roads that circle the centre.
The town is also known for the Döllnitzbahn, a narrow-gauge railway that runs out of Oschatz into the surrounding countryside. Its thin line leads off the edge of the built-up area. Newer housing, industrial areas and green spaces sit around the old centre, and beyond them lie the open fields of the region between the Elbe and the Mulde.

The small river crosses the town, and a band of green follows its banks. On the poster it appears as a soft, uneven line through the regular street pattern.
Narrow-gauge line
The Döllnitzbahn leaves Oschatz on its own narrow track. Its route curves away from the town into farmland, adding a railway line to the map that few towns this size have.
