Ostashkov Map Poster & Print
Ostashkov stands on a peninsula on the southern part of Lake Seliger in Tver Oblast, one of the best-known lakes in central Russia. It is one of the most striking locations for a map. Water surrounds the town on nearly every side, and the streets run the length of the narrow strip of land, with the lake's irregular shoreline all around.
Seliger is a glacial lake, scattered with islands, bays and channels, and a popular summer destination. The Nilov Monastery, on Stolobny Island north of the town, is one of the region's most famous landmarks and a long-standing site of pilgrimage. Ostashkov itself keeps an old centre of churches and merchant streets.
