Plainfield Map Poster & Print
Plainfield lies in Hendricks County, west of Indianapolis, and the historic National Road, now US 40, is its spine. On a map the old main street runs straight east to west, and the rest of the town has grown out from it. Interstate 70 passes to the south, and toward the airport the land turns into long warehouse rectangles.
White Lick Creek winds north to south through town, and the green corridor along it breaks up the grid of streets. Plainfield also has long Quaker roots. The Western Yearly Meeting of Friends has been based here for generations, which links the town to the religious communities that settled central Indiana.

The creek's meandering course and the parkland beside it cut through the neighbourhoods and add the only strong natural curve to an otherwise level plan.
Warehouse district
To the south and east, distribution centres appear as large, plain rectangles. Their scale contrasts sharply with the fine grain of the older streets.
