Plunge Map Poster & Print
Plungė is a town in Samogitia, in western Lithuania, on the Babrungas river. On a map the river runs through the town in a gentle curve, and the streets of the centre sit close to it. The surrounding land is a mix of farmland, woods and small lakes, which is typical of this part of the country.
The town's best-known landmark is the manor estate of the Oginski family, whose nineteenth-century palace now houses the Samogitian Art Museum. The manor park around it covers a large area of paths, ponds and trees. On the map it shows up as a green space with winding walks, clearly different from the town grid next to it.
A Plungė map poster places the town centre, the river and the manor park in a single frame. The straighter streets of the centre contrast with the park's curving paths and irregular ponds. The railway and the roads toward Klaipėda and Telšiai lead out of the town, adding long lines that reach the edges of the poster.
