Renfrew Map Poster & Print
Renfrew stands on the south bank of the River Clyde, just west of Glasgow, near where the White Cart and Black Cart waters join and flow into the Clyde. It is one of Scotland's oldest royal burghs and is often described as the cradle of the Stewart dynasty, whose early lands were centred here. The town gave its name to the historic county of Renfrewshire.
On a map, water frames the town. The broad line of the Clyde runs along the north, and the winding Cart waters mark the west, where Glasgow Airport's runway sits just beyond. The old centre gathers around the main street near the river. Later housing spreads south and east in a mix of terraced streets and postwar layouts.
