Rēzekne Map Poster & Print
Rēzekne is the main town of Latgale in eastern Latvia and is often called the city on seven hills. The Rēzekne river runs through the centre. Beside it rises the castle hill, where the ruins of a medieval Livonian Order castle mark one of the oldest parts of the town. Streets and parks follow the uneven ground around it.
The map shows a centre shaped by landforms rather than by a strict plan. Streets bend around the hills and meet at the river crossings, while residential districts and Soviet-era housing estates spread outward in more regular patterns. The railway, historically important to the town's growth, forms firm lines across the outskirts.
In the centre stands the Latgale Māra monument, a symbol of the region's unity with Latvia, and the modern GORS concert hall has become a cultural landmark for eastern Latvia.
