The coastline
A long, fairly straight stretch of Mediterranean shore forms the northern edge of the map. It frames both the ancient site and the modern town in one clean line.

关于地图
Şabrātah Map Poster & Print
Şabrātah lies on the Libyan coast west of Tripoli. On the map, the straight edge of the Mediterranean sets everything else in place. The modern town spreads inland from the shore in a loose grid of streets. Beyond it, the pattern breaks into fields, orchards and small farm roads, and the main coastal highway carries traffic east toward the capital and west toward the Tunisian border.
Right on the water sits one of the best-known ancient sites in North Africa. Phoenician traders founded Sabratha as a trading post, and it later became a prosperous Roman city. Its theatre, with a tall columned stage wall facing the sea, is the site's famous image. The ruins are listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
A Şabrātah map poster places these two layers side by side. Along the coast, the archaeological zone appears as an open area where few streets cross. The newer town, with its denser and more ordinary blocks, lies behind it. The contrast between an empty seafront of ruins and the lived-in town inland gives the map an unusual, layered shape.

Archaeological zone
Beside the sea, the ruins of the Roman city show as a quiet, open area with very few streets. Few ordinary towns have a gap like this at their centre.
Coastal highway
The main road along the coast runs through the town from east to west. It ties Şabrātah to Tripoli and to the towns near the Tunisian border.

为什么选Şabrātah
一张有意义的地图
The map appeals to people with roots in the town and to travellers and historians drawn to its Roman past. On a wall, it is a calm reminder of a place where the everyday and the ancient sit only a few streets apart.
You can personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with the Arabic name or a year of a visit, and adjust the coordinates line. Pick from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster.
