关于地图
Saginaw Map Poster & Print
Saginaw is defined on the map by its river. The Saginaw River runs north through the city toward Saginaw Bay, dividing it into an east side and a west side that were once separate municipalities. Each half kept its own street grid, and the two meet across the water at slightly different angles, joined by a series of bridges.
The city grew rich in the nineteenth century on lumber floated down the river's tributaries, then became an automotive manufacturing centre in the twentieth. Stevie Wonder was born here. Old neighbourhoods of large timber-era houses sit a short distance from former industrial land along the riverbanks, and the population has fallen considerably from its mid-century peak.
A Saginaw map poster makes the split between the two sides legible at a glance: the river as a dark diagonal band, the bridges stitching across it, and the grids fanning away on either side. It is a clear, strongly composed map, and one that people who grew up on either side will read with some partiality.

Two grids
East Saginaw and the original Saginaw were laid out separately, so their street grids meet across the river at different orientations, a distinctive seam on the map.
River bridges
Several bridges link the two halves, each one a short crossing line that ties the grids together and marks the routes locals use every day.

为什么选Saginaw
一张有意义的地图
Saginaw natives tend to identify firmly with one side of the river, and a map that shows both is a good conversation piece. It suits anyone who left for Detroit, Chicago or further, and still counts the Saginaw years as formative.
Set the title to Saginaw or to your neighbourhood, add a year or family name as the subtitle, and edit the coordinates line if you like. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD download is $9, or order a framed print.
